The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) is a public research university in San Antonio, Texas. It is the largest university in the city and the eighth-largest by enrollment in the state. UTSA is classified among “R2: Doctoral Universities—High research activity.”
Founded by the 61st Texas Legislature, the university was founded in 1969 when Governor Preston Smith signed H.B. 42 into law.
Academics & Campus
There are four campuses spanning 758 acres in total. The Downtown Campus hosts part of the College of Education and Human Development as well as the College of Architecture, Construction and Planning and the College of Public Policy. It also has many community outreach centers and institutes, such as the Texas State Data Center. The Park West Campus houses the soccer and track-and-field facilities and is a host site for community sporting events. The third branch of the UTSA is the Hemisfair Campus.
The university is composed of nine colleges: the College of Sciences and University College; the College for Health, Community and Policy; the College of Liberal and Fine Arts; the Honors College; the College of Engineering and Integrated Design; the College of Education and Human Development; and the Alvarez College of Business.
UTSA has 159 degree options, such as 66 bachelor’s, 68 master’s, and 25 doctoral degrees. The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools accredits all its programs. With an enrollment of 34,000+ students, the university is the third-largest institution within the UT System.
There are 350 student organizations at the university, including six chapters of the Panhellenic Council, eleven chapters of the Interfraternity Council, seven chapters of the National Pan-Hellenic Council, and seven chapters of the Multicultural Greek Council.

Athletics – Roadrunners
The sports teams are members of the Conference USA.
The Roadrunners athletic teams include:
Women: basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, softball, tennis, track & field, and volleyball.
Men: baseball, basketball, cross country, football, golf, tennis, and track & field.
The athletic programs have 50+ NCAA postseason appearances, and 70+ conference championship wins. Since 1997, UTSA has hosted 17 NCAA Division I Championships, such as two women’s Volleyball Championships, two women’s Final Fours, and four men’s Final Fours. Go Blue & Orange!
