The U.S. Air Force Academy (USAFA) is a martial institution for officer cadets located directly north of Colorado Springs, Colorado.

History

With the National Security Act of 1947, support for an air academy increased. Congress passed legislation in 1954 to start building the Air Force Academy, and President Eisenhower signed it into law. USAFA is the youngest among all five U.S. service academies.

Academics & Campus

The campus covers 18,455 acres and is on the east side of the Rampart Range of the Rocky Mountains. The academy is one of the most prominent tourist attractions in the state and attracts almost a million visitors each year. The Air Force Academy is an authorized four-year college offering bachelor's degrees in multiple subjects.

Athletics –Falcons

The sports teams compete at the NCAA Division I level in the Mountain West Conference.

The Falcons athletic teams include:

Women: basketball, cross-country, fencing, gymnastics, indoor and outdoor track, swimming and diving, soccer, tennis, and volleyball.

Men: football, baseball, basketball, ice hockey, cross-country, fencing, golf, gymnastics, indoor and outdoor track, lacrosse, rifle, soccer, swimming and diving, tennis, water polo, and wrestling.

The Air Force has played in 27 bowl games in their history. Go Falcons!
