The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC) is a public university in Chattanooga, Tennessee. It is one of three colleges and two other associated organizations in the University of Tennessee System.

History

UTC was established in 1886 as a private and racially exclusive university. In 1889, it merged with the Athens-based Grant Memorial University, and the campus grew. The institution changed its name to the University of Chattanooga in 1907. It joined the UT system in 1969 and became the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.

Academics & Campus

The university offers more than 140 undergraduate majors and 50+ minors. UT Chattanooga is best known for its nationally ranked Business program and its Engineering, Nursing, English, Chemistry, Accounting, Psychology, Music, and Education departments. There are 10,781 students enrolled.

Athletics -Mocs

The sports team competes in NCAA Division I (FCS) in the Southern Conference. Their men's teams are nicknamed Mocs, and the women's teams are Lady Mocs.

The Mocs' athletic teams include:

Women: basketball, cross-country, golf, soccer, softball, tennis, track and field, volleyball, and beach volleyball.

Men: basketball, cross-country, football, golf, tennis, and wrestling.

According to The National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics, the Mocs have been ranked as a national top 100 athletic program in the Division I Learfield Sports Director's Cup. Go Navy & Gold!
