What is the History of the University of Richmond?

The Virginia Baptist Education Society established the school as a manual labor institute in 1830. 10 years later, it was organized as Richmond College and was renamed in 1920 to the University of Richmond.

The student-athletes at Richmond compete in Division I FCS of the National Collegiate Athletic Association as a member of the Atlantic 10 Conference. UR is also the only university with a spider mascot!

Women: basketball, cross country, field hockey, golf, lacrosse, soccer, softball, swimming, and diving, track and field, and tennis.
