The university is comprised of three campuses: Charlotte Research Institute Campus, Center City Campus, and the main campus, located in University City. The main campus rests on 1,000 acres with roughly 85 buildings.

Through its nine colleges, UNC Charlotte offers 25 doctoral, 66 master's, and 79 bachelor's degree programs. In the fall of 2020, approximately 30,000 students enrolled. What is the history of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte?

In 1946, North Carolina opened the Charlotte Center of the University of North Carolina as a school to serve the educational needs of returning WWII veterans. Three years later, it became Charlotte College and then transitioned to a four-year university in 1963.

The 49ers' athletics program includes:

The men's basketball team has reached the NCAA Tournament eleven times, and the women's team has made the WNIT in every season since 2003. In 2007, the golf team became the top-rated golf in the nation. Go Green & White!
