The University of Hartford (UHart) is a private university in West Hartford, Connecticut.

History

The university was chartered in 1957 after joining the Hartford Art School, The Hartt School, and Hillyer College. The Hartford Art School was founded in 1877 by a group of women in Hartford, such as Harriet Beecher Stowe and Mark Twain's wife, Olivia Langdon Clemens.

Academics & Campus

The main campus covers a 350-acre area that extends into neighboring Bloomfield and Hartford. There are four different styles of on-campus housing, such as six residential suite-style complexes, a large building of four wings of suites, and more. There are academic departments in seven schools.

UHart offers 82 bachelor's degree programs, 28 graduate degrees, ten associate degrees, and seven certificates or diplomas. The university and its degree programs are accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education, the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, and the Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering Technology. The university has 6,000+ students enrolled that are from 48 states and 43 countries.

Athletics -Hawks

The sports teams participate in the NCAA Division I level as a member of the America East Conference. The women's golf team is in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, and the men's golf team competes in the Big Sky Men's Golf Conference. In 2022, UHart plans to transition to Division III.

The Hawks athletic teams include:

Women: basketball, cross country, esports, golf, lacrosse, soccer, softball, track & field, and volleyball.

Men: baseball, basketball, cross country, esports, golf, lacrosse, soccer, and track & field.

The men's golf team has won twelve America East Champions. The men's soccer team has four NCAA Tournament appearances and four America East Tournament Champion wins. Go Red, White, & Black!
