The University of Evansville (UE) is a private university in Evansville, Indiana.

History

John Moore established Moores Hill Male and Female Collegiate Institute in 1854 in the small town of Moores Hill. After the institution struggled financially and a fire destroyed Moore Hall in 1915, the Institute continued to operate in a second building, Carnegie Hall.

It then moved to Evansville, and the former campus operated as an elementary and high school. Carnegie Hall is currently a museum. In 1967, after approval from the Indiana State General Assembly, the name was changed to the University of Evansville.
