The University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG or UNC Greensboro) is a public research university in Greensboro, North Carolina. It is a part of the University of North Carolina system and is classified among R2: Doctoral Universities—High research activity.

History

Charles Duncan McIver was the main founder of the school. In 1891, it was initially established as a women's college by legislative enactment as the State Normal and Industrial School. The name was officially changed to the University of North Carolina at Greensboro when men were first admitted in 1963.

Academics & Campus

UNCG is the largest university in the Piedmont Triad. On its campus, there is the College of Arts & Sciences and seven professional schools. On 250+ acres, the university consists of 27 academic buildings and 30 residence buildings. It offers over 125 areas of study and 80+ graduate programs that provide more than 180 advanced degrees. There are 19,653 students enrolled.
