The University of Louisiana Monroe (ULM) is a public university in Monroe, Louisiana. In 2015, the university was ranked 81^st out of Regional Universities in the South by the U.S. News & World Report. It is also part of the University of Louisiana System.

History

In 1931, Ouachita Parish Junior College was founded. Three years later, the college was renamed the Northeast Center of Louisiana State University. In 1950, it became an autonomous four-year institution, and then in 1969, the college granted doctoral degrees for the first time and gained university status becoming Northeast Louisiana University. In 1999, the university was renamed its present name.

Academics & Campus

The urban campus covers a 238-acre area. ULM provides AACSB accredited MBA degree programs for undergrads and graduate students. It is also the only university in Louisiana that offers a four-year Meteorology program. Its Atmospheric Science program is the only undergraduate only program with a Polarimetric Doppler Weather Radar. The College of Pharmacy includes one of seven Toxicology programs in the nation and is accredited by the American Council on Pharmacy Education.

There are 8,854 students enrolled. The University of Louisiana at Monroe is home to numerous award-winning groups such as the competition cheerleading squad and the marching band. The water ski team is the most successful in the collegiate sport history with 28 National Collegiate Water Skiing Association championships.

The sports teams participate in NCAA Division I (FBS) and are members of the Sun Belt Conference.

The Warhawks athletic teams include:

Women: basketball, beach volleyball, cross country, golf, soccer, softball, tennis, track & field, and volleyball.

Men: baseball, basketball, cross country, football, golf, and track & field.

The Warhawks have won conference titles in baseball and men's basketball. Go Maroon & Gold!
