The University of Indianapolis (UIndy) is a private United Methodist Church-affiliated university in Indianapolis, Indiana. In 2018, the university was tied for #34 in the U.S. News & World Report.

History

In 1902, Indiana Central University was founded. An Indianapolis real estate developer, William L. Elder, offered the Church of the United Brethren in Christ land to establish a college. In 1947, The North Central Association of Schools and Colleges accredited the university. It was renamed the University of Indianapolis in 1986.

Academics & Campus

The main campus is on the south side of the city and straddles the Carson Heights and University Heights neighborhoods. In addition, UIndy has international sites in China and Cyprus. The University of Indianapolis provides 82 undergraduate majors, 27 master's degree programs, five doctoral degrees, and numerous pre-professional programs.

The university is organized into these schools and colleges: Shaheen College of Arts & Sciences, Health Sciences, College of Applied Behavioral Sciences, R.B. Annis School of Engineering, Krannert School of Physical Therapy, School of Occupational Therapy, School of Therapy, School of Education, and School of Business.

In 2019, the university enrolled 5,550 students. The student body represents 44 states and 68 countries. International students make up 7% of the graduate and 9% of the undergraduate population.

Athletics -Greyhounds

The sports teams are members of the Great Lakes Valley Conference in the NCAA Division II.

The Greyhounds athletic teams include:

Women: basketball, cross country, golf, lacrosse, soccer, softball, swimming & diving, tennis, track & field, and volleyball.

Men: baseball, basketball, cross country, football, golf, lacrosse, soccer, swimming & diving, tennis, track & field, and wrestling.

The baseball team has a school record of 51 wins and 15 NCAA Tournament appearances. In 2000 and 2012, the team went to the NCAA Division II World Series. The basketball team has been to 11 NCAA Division II Tournaments. Go Crimson & Gray!
