What is the History of the State College of Florida?

State College of Florida is the oldest and largest public college in the region. Established in 1957 as Manatee Junior College, the school was renamed Manatee Community College in 1985. In 2009, the school became a four-year state institution and began offering baccalaureate degrees and was officially called the State College of Florida, Manatee–Sarasota.

Which Sports Do the Manatees Play?

The Manatees compete in the Suncoast Conference of the Florida College System Activities Association in Division I of the NJCAA Region VIII.

The Manatees' athletic program includes:
