Siena College is a private Franciscan liberal arts college in Loudonville, New York.
In the late 1930s, the president of St. Bonaventure University, Thomas Plassmann, sent seven Franciscan friars to New York’s Capital Region in order to establish a college. As a result, Siena was founded in 1937 by the Order of Friars Minor. It was named after a 15th-century Italian Franciscan friar and preacher, Bernardino of Siena.
