What is the History of Saint Peter's University?

It was founded as Saint Peter's College in 1872 by the Society of Jesus. The school became co-educational in 1966.

The Peacocks compete in NCAA Division I in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.

The Peacocks athletic program includes:

Women: Basketball, Cross Country, Soccer, Softball, Swimming & Diving, Track & Field, and Volleyball.

Men: Baseball, Basketball, Cross Country, Golf, Soccer, Swimming & Diving, and Track & Field.

In 2022, the men's basketball team was nationally recognized after receiving a No. 15 seed in the NCAA Tournament and defeating the No. 7 seed Murray State Racers—becoming the third No. 15 seed to reach the Sweet 16 and the first to reach the Elite 8. Go Peacocks!
