Portland State University (PSU) is a public research university in Portland, Oregon. It is ranked between R2: Doctoral Universities—High research activity.

Histroy

In 1946, it was established as a post-secondary collegiate system for World War II veterans. The school grew into a four-year institute over the following two decades, and in 1969, Portland State was granted university status.

Academics & Campus

The campus is located in an area known as the University District. With ten residence halls, PSU houses approximately 3,000 students. It also consists of seven constituent colleges that offer undergraduate degrees in 123 fields and postgraduate degrees in 117 areas. PSU is the only state university in Oregon that is located in a large city and is governed by a board of trustees. There are 26,012 students enrolled at the university.

Athletics –Vikings

The sports teams compete at the NCAA Division I Level in the Big Sky Conference.

The Vikings' athletic teams include:

Women: basketball, cross-country, golf, soccer, softball, tennis, track and field, and volleyball.

Men: basketball, cross-country, football, tennis, and track and field.

The Vikings won NCAA National Division II championships in women's volleyball and wrestling. The football team has placed second twice at the Division II level. Go Green & White!
