Polk State College is a public college in Winter Haven, Florida, and is part of the Florida College System.

History

The first public higher education institution in Polk Country was founded in 1964. Its campus was built on a former WWII Army Air Force Base in Bartow. By 1988, the school had grown to include a second campus, Polk State Lakeland. In 2009, the college was renamed Polk Community College to reflect its first bachelor's degree program.

Academics & Campus

The main campus is located in Winter Haven, whereas the second campus is near Lakeland. Both campuses host the PSC Collegiate High School Program. There are also smaller centers across the state, including Bartow, Lake Wales, Winter Haven, and Lakeland.

Polk State offers six bachelor's degrees such as the Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education, the Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education, Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Sciences, Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice, and the Bachelor of Applied Science in Supervision and Management. It also provides workforce certificates, the Associate of Science degree, and the Associate in Arts.

The total enrollment is about 18,000+ students who have access to a number of campus activities such as career development services, honors programs, internships, student activities, and youth programs.

Athletics -Eagles

The sports teams compete in the Suncoast Conference of Division I of the NJCAA Region 8 within the Florida State College Activities Association.

The Eagles' athletic teams include baseball, basketball, soccer, softball, and volleyball.

The men's basketball team has won three NJCAA Region 8 Championships and 12 Suncoast Conference championships. Go Eagles!
