Otterbein University is a private university in Westerville, Ohio. In 2012, the U.S. News & World Report ranked the university 14^th among the Regional Universities (Midwest).

History

The Church of the United Brethren in Christ founded the university in 1847. It was named in honor of the United Brethren founder, the Rev. Philip William Otterbein. Due to a division and two mergers, the university has been associated with the United Methodist Church since 1968.

Academics & Campus

The 140-acre campus, located in Westerville, sits between Alum Creek on the west and State Street. The north end of the campus consists of underclassman housing, athletic facilities, the Clements Recreation Center, and the healthy and physical education department.

Otterbein University offers eight graduate programs, 44 minors, and 74 majors. Primarily an undergraduate institution, there are roughly 2,300 undergraduate and 450 graduate students enrolled. The university had 100+ student organizations such as a favored Greek presence. In 1908, Otterbein debate society members started Pi Beta Sigma Fraternity, and in 1910, Sigma Alpha Tau Sorority was founded. On campus, there are six sororities and eight fraternities.

The sports teams are members of the Ohio Athletic Conference in NCAA Division III.

The Cardinals athletic teams include:
