Old Dominion University (ODU) is a public research university in Norfolk, Virginia. It is ranked between “R2: Doctoral Universities—High research activity.”

History

In 1930, the Norfolk Division of the College of William & Mary was founded. Then in 1969, Old Dominion College transitioned to Old Dominion University.

Academics & Campus

One of the largest universities in the state, ODU’s main campus covers 251+ acres and is approximately five miles from Downtown Norfolk. Within its eight colleges, the university offers 274 academic programs and 168 undergraduate and graduate degree programs. Old Dominion is also one of the largest providers of online distance training courses in the nation. There are 24,176 students enrolled that represent 700+ international students from 89 countries.

Athletics –Monarchs

The Monarchs and Lady Monarchs compete in the NCAA Division I as members of the Conference USA.

The Monarchs’ athletic teams include:

Women: basketball, field hockey, golf, lacrosse, rowing, soccer, and sailing.

Men: baseball, basketball, football, golf, soccer, sailing, and swimming.

The athletic teams have won 49 championships, including 15 in men’s and women’s sailing and 9 in women’s field hockey. Go Blue & Silver!
