About North Carolina A&T State University

North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University (NC A&T) is a public, historically black land-grant research university in Greensboro, North Carolina. It is a part of the University of North Carolina System. The university is regarded as the number one historically black college in the United States by Washington Monthly & Money Magazine.

Academics & Campus

The main campus is 600 acres and North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University also operate a 492-acre working farm and two research parks. The Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education has classified the university as a high-activity research university.

NC A&T provides 54 undergraduate, 29 master's, and nine doctoral degrees through its eight colleges, one school, and one joint school. There are around 13,322 students enrolled.

What is the History of North Carolina A&T State University?

In 1891, the North Carolina General Assembly founded the Agricultural and Mechanical College for people of color, the first college for people of color in North Carolina. The college was designated a Regional University by the North Carolina General Assembly in 1967 and renamed North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University.

The Aggies are members of the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA).

The Aggies athletics program includes:

Women: Basketball, Bowling, Cross Country, Golf, Softball, Volleyball, Tennis, and Track & Field.

Men: Baseball, Basketball, Cross Country, Football, Golf, Tennis, and Track & Field.

The men's basketball program has reached the NCAA Tournament 10 times, whereas the women's team has made the tournament five times. Go Blue & Gold!
