The main campus is located in Oxford, Ohio, as well as nearby campuses in Hamilton, Middletown, and West Chester. Miami also maintains an international boarding campus in Differdange, Luxembourg. It is ranked 1^st on the Forbes 2016 list of best college towns in the U.S. Miami is renowned for its beautiful campus and has been called, The most beautiful campus that ever was, by Pulitzer Prize-winning poet, Robert Frost.

Miami University is well known for its liberal arts education and offers more than 120 undergraduate degree programs and over 60 graduate degree programs within its 8 schools and colleges in architecture, business, engineering, humanities, and the sciences. It also offers master's degrees in more than 50 areas of study and 14 doctoral degrees. Miami is one of the original 8 Public Ivy schools, which is a group of publicly funded universities considered as providing a quality of education similar to an Ivy League.

With a total enrollment of 24,000+ students, 40.5% of students come from Ohio and the rest are from all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and 85 countries. The most represented countries are China, Vietnam, India, and South Korea. Miami has over 600 registered student organizations and 30 dining destinations on campus. Its clubs and organizations range from varsity sports clubs to professional fraternities, from political and religious groups to fashion, theatre, and LGBTQ+ organizations. Miami has a long tradition of Greek life, with 21 active sorority and 30 active fraternity chapters. The university is nicknamed the Mother of Fraternities.

What is the History of Miami University?

Established in 1809, the foundations for the university were first laid by an Act of Congress signed by President George Washington, which stated that an academy should be Northwest of the Ohio River in the Miami Valley. The township originally granted to the university was known as the College Township, and was renamed Oxford, Ohio, in 1810.

Which NCAA Sports Do the Redhawks?

The Miami RedHawks compete in the NCAA Division I and the Mid-American Conference. The ice hockey team competes in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference.

The RedHawks' athletics program includes:

Women: basketball, field hockey, soccer, softball, swimming and diving, synchronized skating, tennis, cross country, track and field, and volleyball.

Men: basketball, baseball, football, golf, hockey, swimming and diving, track and field, and cross country.

The football team has a rich tradition of history, having the longest continuous college football rivalry against the Cincinnati Bearcats, and has one of the oldest football programs in the country, dating back to 1888. Notable baseball-team alumni are Walter Alston, who managed the Los Angeles Dodgers, and World Series Champion, Adam Eaton, who won in 2019. Go Red & White!
