Ithaca College is a private liberal arts college in Ithaca, New York. According to U.S. News & World Report, the college has been ranked among the Top 10 masters’ universities in the “Regional Universities North” category every year since 1996.

 

History

 

William Grant Egbert, a local violin teacher, founded the Ithaca Conservatory of Music in 1892. For almost seven decades, the conservatory flourished and, in 1931, was chartered as a private college. The college was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1971.

 

Academics & Campus

Other than the Ithaca campus, the college operates several satellite campuses in other cities like London, Los Angeles, Washington, and New York City. Ithaca also operates direct enrollment exchange programs with numerous universities such as Griffith, La Trobe, Murdoch, University of Tasmania, University of Hong Kong, University of Valencia, and lots more.

 

Ithaca College offers 100+ degrees within its five schools and has a solid liberal arts core with pre-professional and graduate programs. It is internationally known for the Roy H. Park School of Communications, which is ranked as a top school for entertainment, film, journalism, and media.

 

In the fall of 2019, there were 6,266 students enrolled. Ithaca’s large intramural sports program serves roughly 25% of the undergraduate population. There are a total of fourteen team activities such as basketball, flag football, ultimate frisbee, kickball, soccer, softball, ski racing, and volleyball.

Athletics – Bombers

The sports teams compete at the NCAA Division III level as members of the Liberty League and the Eastern College Athletic Conference.

 

The Bombers athletic teams include:

 

Women: basketball, crew, cross country, field hockey, golf, gymnastics, lacrosse, sculling, soccer, softball, swimming & diving, tennis, track & field, and volleyball.

 

Men: baseball, basketball, crew, cross country, football, lacrosse, soccer, swimming & diving, tennis, track & field, and wrestling.

 

The athletics program at Ithaca is one of the strongest at the Division III level. The teams have won fifteen national titles in five individual sports and seven team sports. The football team has a record of seven appearances in the Division III national championship game and the Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl. They also have won three NCAA Division III National Football Championships. The women’s soccer team has consistently ranked in the top 20 nationally and has won two national championships.
