Idaho State University (ISU) is a public research university in Pocatello, Idaho. It is ranked between R2: Doctoral Universities—High research activity.

History

In 1901, Governor Frank W. Hunt signed Senate Bill 53 in order to establish the Academy of Idaho. It was renamed five times and became Idaho State University in 1963.

Academics & Campus

The central campus in Pocatello has an altitude of approximately 4,550 ft above sea level. ISU has other campuses in Meridian, Idaho Falls, and Twin Falls. The university offers more than 280 programs and is the designated lead organization in health and medical education in the state. In the fall semester of 2019, 12,425 students enrolled. The student body represents 48 U.S. states and 59 countries. Idaho State offers 140+ organizations, including professional, academic, cultural, service, and social student clubs.

Athletics –Bengals

The sports teams compete in the NCAA Division I (FCS) as a member of the Big Sky Conference.

The Bengals' athletic teams include:

Women: basketball, cross-country, golf, soccer, softball, tennis, and track and field.

Men: basketball, cross-country, football, tennis, and track and field.

ISU's football team won the NCAA Division I-AA national championship in 1981. The track and field team won the Big Sky Conference Indoor title in 2005 and 2006. Go Orange & Black!
