Harford Community College (HCC) is a public community college in Bel Air, Maryland.
In 1957, Harford Junior College was founded in the basement of the Bel Air High School. It moved to its current location in 1964 and was eventually renamed Harford Community College in 1971. In the mid-1990s, the college grew and added a new library, new parking lots, as well as Edgewood Hall, Fallston Hall, and a larger baseball sports facility.
Academics & Campus
The original campus occupied 332 acres. Present-day, the open-access location is located on 350+ acres and has 21 buildings. HCC offers 80+ degrees and certificate programs plus workforce development and community education courses within seven academic divisions.
The academic divisions are: Arts & Humanities; Behavioral & Social Sciences; Community Education, Business & Applied Technology; Nursing & Allied Health Professions; Science, Technology, Engineering & Math; and Visual, Performing & Applied Arts. The college is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education and is a member of the Maryland Association of Community Colleges. Harford Community College enrolls approximately 20,000 students.

Athletics – Fighting Owls
The sports teams compete in the National Junior College Athletic Association and the Maryland Junior College Athletic Conference.
The Fighting Owls athletic teams include:
Women: basketball, cross country/track, field hockey, golf, lacrosse, soccer, softball, tennis, and volleyball.
Men: baseball, basketball, cross country/track, golf, lacrosse, soccer, tennis, and wrestling.
HCC has a successful athletics program with 70+ All-Americans on the junior college level of interscholastic sports. In 2019, the women’s lacrosse team won its first NJCAA Division I National Championship. The women’s field hockey program won Hartford’s only national championship in 1995.
