What is the History of Dallas Baptist University?

Originally called Decatur Baptist College, it was established in 1898 as the first two-year institution of higher education in the state. The Baptist General Convention of Texas purchased the land in Decatur until the school moved to Dallas in 1965, after being invited by the Dallas Baptist Association. In 1985, the college was officially renamed Dallas Baptist University.

The sports teams compete in the NCAA and the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA). The majority of its teams compete at the NCAA Division II level in the Lone Star Conference, except for the baseball team, which is a member of the Division I Missouri Valley Conference.
