What is the History of Creighton University?

Founded in 1878, Creighton College was a gift from Mary Lucretia Creighton, who stipulated in her will that a school be established in memory of her husband, Edward Creighton, a prominent businessman in Omaha, Nebraska. In 1958, the college split into a prep school and the present-day Creighton University.

Which NCAA Sports Do the Bluejays Play?

Creighton's athletic program has been a member of the Big East Conference since 2013. They also compete in NCAA Division I.

The Bluejays' intercollegiate athletics program includes:

Women: basketball, softball, cross country, soccer, volleyball, rowing, golf, and tennis.

Men: basketball, baseball, golf, cross country, soccer, and tennis.

In 2004, the women's basketball team won the WNIT championship. The softball team has made 2 appearances in the Women's College World Series and has appeared in 6 NCAA Tournaments. Tara Oltman, the best pitcher in MVC history, was a three-time league Pitcher of the Year and finished her career with multiple conference records. She remains the only student-athlete in Bluejays history to earn first-team all-conference honors in 4 consecutive seasons. Go Blue & White!
