Colorado Mesa University is a public university in Grand Junction, Colorado.
History
Established in 1925 as a junior college, the school became Mesa College in 1937 and began offering baccalaureate programs in 1974. In 1996, the college offered its first master’s program and continued to expand. In 2011, the Board of Trustees and the State of Colorado renamed the institution Colorado Mesa University.
Academics & Campus
The main campus encompasses 141 acres, nestled between mountains and canyons. The university has other locations, including the Bishop Campus in northwestern Grand Junction and a regional campus in Montrose, Colorado. On its main campus, there are currently 2,000+ students living in its eleven residential buildings.
Colorado Mesa University provides 114 academic programs that lead to awards in five levels, such as technical certificates, associate degrees, baccalaureate degrees, master’s degrees, and professional doctoral degrees. It is a member of the North Central Association and is accredited by The Higher Learning Commission. There is an enrollment of almost 11,000 students, 46% are male, and 54% are female.

Athletics –Mavericks
The sports teams compete in NCAA Division II as part of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
The Mavericks athletic teams include:
Women: basketball, beach volleyball, cheerleading, cross country, golf, lacrosse, soccer, and softball.
Men: baseball, basketball, cheerleading, cross country, football, golf, and lacrosse.
The Mavericks have 90+ conference and regional titles across all sports. In 2009, the baseball team made it to the Division II College World Series for the first time in its history. The team had its most successful postseason in 2014 and made it to the Division II national championship. Go Mavericks!
