Bowling Green State University (BGSU) is a public research university in Bowling Green, Ohio. It was ranked by U.S. News & World Report as 119^th on the Top Public Schools ranking.

History

Founded in 1910, it was initially a normal school that specialized in teacher coaching and training. In 1935, the school was granted university status and renamed Bowling Green State University.

Academics & Campus

The campus covers a 1,338-acre area and is 15 miles south of Toledo, Ohio. There is also a satellite campus, BGSU Firelands, in Huron, Ohio. BGSU offers 200+ undergraduate, master, and doctoral degree programs through its eight academic colleges. It has full accreditation from the Higher Learning Commission and the North Central Association since 1916.

As of 2018, the university has a residential student population of roughly 6,000 students and a total enrollment of 19,000+ students. There are 600 additional students who attend class online. Roughly 85% of students are from the state of Ohio. BGSU offers 300+ student organizations.

Athletics –Falcons

The sports teams compete at the NCAA Division I level (FBS) as a member of the Mid-American Conference. The ice hockey team is a member of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association.

The Falcons' athletic teams include:

Women: basketball, cross-country, golf, gymnastics, soccer, softball, swim and dive, tennis, track and field, and volleyball.

Men: baseball, basketball, cross-country, football, golf, ice hockey, and soccer.

The women's basketball team has won three conference champion ships. Go Orange & Brown!
