Academics & Campus

The main campus spans around 290 acres and is organized into four schools. Bethel University offers bachelor's degrees in 106 majors and areas of study, as well as 43 minors, ten master's degrees, and 11 pre-professional programs. There are approximately 5,600 students enrolled.

Bethel also operates Bethel Theological Seminary, which has two locations: the Arden Hills and San Diego.

What is the History of Bethel University?

Founded by Swedish Baptist pastor John Alexis Edgren in 1871 as Baptist Theological Union's Swedish Seminary, the school merged with Bethel Academy in 1914. It became Bethel Junior College in 1931 and then a four-year liberal arts college in 1947. In 2004, the school was renamed Bethel University.
