• The strongest team at JHU is the men’s lacrosse team with its 44 national titles, 29 United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association, nine Division I, and six Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association titles.
• In 1976, Loyola University Maryland’s soccer team won the NCAA Division II National. They have also appeared several times in the NCAA Division I Tournament and garnered numerous national rankings.
• UMES is tied with Florida State for the most alumni playing in a single Super Bowl game.
• In 2011, freshman sailor from the United States Naval Academy, Krysta Rohde, was the first academy cadet and second first-year student ever to win the ICSA Women’s Singlehanded National Championship.
• The first Mount Saint Mary’s win in the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Tournament was in 2008.
• More than 200 men and women athletes have been inducted into the Morgan State University Hall of Fame.
• The state is the first state in the nation to designate a state exercise—walking.
• Maryland has 2 NFL teams, 1 MLB team, 1 NHL, and 1 NBA team.
