Lake Erie College is a private liberal arts college in Painesville, Ohio.

History

Founded in 1856, the Lake Erie Female Seminary was the only single-sex institution of higher education for women in the Western Reserve, apart from its sister seminary, Mount Holyoke. Seminarians trained as teachers and were educated through domestic work, physical education, and etiquette. The seminary finally delivered college degrees 40 years later. In 1908, it became Lake Erie College.

Academics & Campus

The college is in downtown Painesville, roughly 30 miles east of downtown Cleveland. Lake Erie comprises five schools: the School of Business, the School of Education and Professional Studies, the School of Arts and Humanities, the School of Equine Studies, and the School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics.

Lake Erie College offers 63 undergrad programs as well as master's programs in education, physician assistant studies, and the IACBE-accredited Parker Master of Business Administration program. In 2016-17, there were 1,177 students enrolled.

Athletics -Storm

The sports teams participate at the NCAA Division II level in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference.

The Storm athletic teams include:

Women: basketball, cross country, golf, lacrosse, soccer, softball, track & field, and volleyball.

Men: baseball, basketball, cross country, football, golf, lacrosse, soccer, track & field, and wrestling.

In 2005-06, the men's basketball team set a record with 25 wins and advanced to the AMCC Championship three years in a row with two Division III NCAA Tournament appearances. In 2010, the track and field team boasted the first two NCAA Division II All-Americans in school history. Go Green & White!
