Colorado College (CC) is a private liberal arts college in Colorado Springs, Colorado. It is one of 6 western U.S. colleges included in the guidebook, The Hidden Ivies. According to the 2020 edition of U.S. News & World Report, CC is tied for 27th best liberal arts college in the nation and No. # among the most innovative national liberal arts institutions. In 2019, Forbes ranked the college 92nd among America's Top Colleges.

History

In 1874, the college was founded on land designated by U.S. Civil War veteran General William Jackson Palmer. He was also the founder of the Denver and Rio Grande Railroad and Colorado Springs.

Academics & Campus

On its 90-acre campus, Colorado College offers 42 majors, 33 minor degree programs, and more than 80 specialized degree programs, including American cultural studies, biochemistry, environmental science, feminist and gender studies, and an across-the-curriculum writing program. The college also offers a Master of Arts in Teaching degree. CC is affiliated with the Associated Colleges of the Midwest.

Nearly 2,000 undergraduate students are enrolled. They have access to over 100 clubs and student groups that range from professional groups interest clubs, and social groups. In 1878, the male students organized the first literary society called Phi Delta Pi.

Athletics –Tigers

The sports teams participate at the NCAA Division III level except for the men's hockey team and women's soccer. The hockey team participates in the NCAA Division I National Collegiate Hockey Conference, and the soccer team competes as a member in the NCAA Division I Mountain West Conference.

The Tigers athletic teams include:

Women: basketball, cross country, lacrosse, soccer, swimming and diving, tennis, track and field, and volleyball.

Men: basketball, cross country, ice hockey, lacrosse, soccer, swimming and diving, tennis, and track and field.

The hockey team won the NCAA Division I championship twice, has appeared in the NCAA Tournament eighteen times, and was runners-up three times. They also played in the Frozen Four a total of four times. 55 student-athletes have been named All-Americans. Go Black & Gold!
