Campbell University is a private Baptist university in Buies Creek, North Carolina.

History

In 1887, a 26-year-old Baptist preacher, James Archibald Campbell, established Buies Creek Academy. At the beginning of the 20th Century, a young school tragically burned down in a suspicious fire. In 1903, the new building was erected and brought new life to the institution. The college achieved senior-college status in 1961.

Academics & Campus

The main rural campus covers a 1,500-acre area and is located in the Sandhills of southeastern North Carolina. Campbell University is in the small unincorporated village of Buies Creek, near the Cape Fear River. There are four campuses: Main Campus, Raleigh, Fort Bragg, Champ Lejeune, and additional online courses. The campus is home to many dormitories, residence halls, and student apartments.

Campbell is one of only four private universities in the state to achieve the highest accreditation level. The university offers more than 100 tracks and concentrations. There are master's programs in business, education, medicine, clinical research and divinity, pharmacy, physician assistant, pharmaceutical science, and professional programs in law.

There are 7,121 students enrolled and 55+ student-led organizations. Notable alumni include Chris Clemons, Paul Green, Bob Etheridge, Ann Marie Calabria, Michelle Koh, Cal Koonce, George Lehmann, John D. Loudermilk, and more.

Athletics –Camels

The Camels participate in NCAA Division I as members of the Big South Conference. The men's wrestling team is an associate member of the Southern Conference, and the Lady Camels' swim team is a member of the Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association.

The Camels' athletic teams include:

Women: basketball, cheerleading, cross country, golf, lacrosse, soccer, softball, swimming, tennis, track and field, and volleyball.

Men: baseball, basketball, cheerleading, cross country, football, golf, soccer, tennis, track and field, and wrestling.

The men's basketball team has only won one conference championship at the Division I level. The Lady Camels have won two conference championship seasons. Go Camels!
